Tyre advice

Hiya all.
I had a puncture about 6months ago in the front right and at the time was a bit strapped for cash and replaced it with a budget tyre from Setyres.

It's fine in the dry but totally dangerous in the wet. Turning into any left bend at stupidly slow speeds sees the front left tyre loose grip and has scared the holy bejeezus out of me more than once.

Anyways, I need to replace the other front tyre now and I think i will replace the budget tyre too whilst I am at it.
I see that now all tyres have a rating regarding "wet braking" ranging from A thro to F.

Would I be right in saying that I should go for the highest rating for my buck and will this relate to a better all round handling tyre?

All tyres are designed for different purposes
Avoid V tread tyres as were expecting snow soon and they're not the best. Find an asymmetric design tyre (eg Nokian WR G2)
Also lower your tyre pressure it will be more forgiving.

How well a tyre performs is dictated by compund and tread pattern
How well it handles is down to your suspension
