Me again, "fuel problem" a few posts down......its now getting silly, can someone help?
Had a mechnic with his head under the car for 90 mins, NOTHING!
Can someone please confirm this, if the ignition is switched on, the fuel pump should pump fuel with the pipe disconnected at the rail into a bottle for 4/5 secs? I can only get fuel out if I cank the engine.
SO does this mean immobiliser problem, ECU or fuel pump?
I can get a secondhand ECU with locks off E-bay for around £100 but will this cure it?
I am starting to lose the will to live!

Hi Frank, do you think we are the only two on this site!
I know they changed a lot on the Micra around 2000, I think I will end up towing to my local Nissan dealer, its not the £65 plus VAT hourly rate that scares me, its the cost of "genuine" Nissan parts they decide to fit!

I've read before about someones nats sensor in the ignition coming slightly loose, just enough to not be able to pick-up the chip in the key.
That would give the same problems you are having I believe.
It is a bit of a shot in the dark though.

Hi Matt, I like "shots in the dark"! Have you any idea where the sensor is in the ignition? Spoke to an AA man today, he thinks...............ECU problem.
Just started to make a noose for myself!

It should be just on the other side of the cowel, attatched to the ignition barrel. I believe it to be a little black box with a ring around the ignition switch, quite sensitive I presume, but worth looking for a loose wire or a loose fitting imo.

I don't think it's a common problem, but you've covered pretty much everything else eh.

if not take out the back seats to locate fuel pump and test it i think the 5 second pump start on initial ignition is to prime the system fuel pressure in the rails pipes etc you should be able to here it when the ignition is switched on for a couple of seconds if not go to scrap yard for one cheaper option than a new one if it aint the problem

Many thanks for replys.............
There is NO warning engine light on, there are NO codes showing.
Ducker, I know what you mean BUT if the fuel pump is U/S it would not pump fuel when cranking, would it? It does not pump with just ignition on only when cranking!
Still making my noose!

I had a similar problem with my missus's holden(opel) astra

ecu, transponder and key FOB hav to be matching set. when something goes out of whack you have to re-syncronise the fob and transponder by turning the key to first click and holding the lock button for a few seconds

my problem was that we got the spare ecu mixed up during the engine swap

Hi Rudy, yes, I have tried that but again, if the immobiliser is not working correctly, why have I a spark and fuel up to the rail? Does not the immobiliser stop spark/fuel to disable the car?

Hi Frank2, are you certain of this, if so, I assume the keys need matching with the ECU and this is a "main" agent's job? I can buy a ECU and ignition barrel for £60, this may be cheaper than a main agent, what do you think?

dont take this as gospel, but i think the transponder(not barrel) in the steering column has to be programmed to the ecu, and the FOB inside the key handle(not the key itself) has to synched to the transponder

your not trying to use a spare key to start it are you?, if not does the key open the locks remotely?(not flat battery inside key)

Hi again, I have 2 keys but the car does not have cental locking or remote locking, a very basic car, it even has window winders that you turn!!!!
I have found a couple of Auto Locksmiths close to me so will contact them Monday to see what they have to say. I will NOT give up!

well if it runs on easystart its just a fuel issue eh martin, and if you have pressure @ the rail then its an injector or nats fault surely ?
did you get the transponder ring/antenna and key and nats control unit with the ecu ?

Hi Frank, It came with ECU, ignition barrel and key and 4 door locks. I will check but I do not remember seeing a "transponder ring" what does it look like?

the black box atached around the barrel that reads the chip in the key mate, and most nats nissans have a small electronic control box (behind the glovebox on many models)

Oh well, another update.................
Nissan mechanic came out after work, checked all the obvious "things" nothing.
Put a test light on injectors, nothing happening so he thinks........its probably a break in the wire from the ECU..... coming back on Thursday with a diagram of the ECU wiring and thinks he can run a new wire from the ECU....

SOOOOOO after replacing the Cam Sensor and Crank Sensor he told me if either of these were at fault, the management light would have been on so wasted money there.
He has NEVER heard of or replaced himself a ECU on a K11, another waste of money there as well!

The ONLY good news he had for me was....."it could have been worse, it could be a K12"
Hey Ho!

Hi again Frank, I really am at a loss now, I assume (!) a Nissan mechanic who has been one for many years would know if it was NATS problem, he said if it was NATS problem, the red warning alarm light would be constantly on with ignition on, mine is not, it seems to be behaving correctly. There is NO live feed to the injectors.
Hope he can sort it out Thursday
