stuck caliper :(

I've just tried to change my missus brake pads on her 1ltr K11 - a simple enough job except i can't push the caliper piston back in. the pads are almost worn out and i think the piston has gone too far - is this possible?

I don't think the caliper is stuck as it will still "clamp down" when braking.

So far i've tried G clamps, hammers, bars, blocks of wood and still it wont budge....

Any one got a suggestion besides replacing the calipers?

would bleeding the system make it easier? I dont think they can go too far, i wore my pads out going to blackpool once and changed them when i got back.

Well i did it. I got a HUGE G clamp from my dad and it did the trick.

The pads were like paper, i really couldn't see how they could slow the car down!

i've had metal on metal before, and when thats your only choice, you gotta hit the brakes at some point, it does slow you down, but its not nice :s

it wasn't metal on metal but i didn't let her go home untill i sorted out the stuck piston as they were far too low for my liking - i'll try and get some pics of them as my missus wanted to keep them - you know women! LOL
