i just fitted my new exhaust and dont get me wrong i love it,

but is there anything i can do to try and deaden the sound inside my car?

is it possible to buy anything i can put in the boot or something just to try and hide some of the sound?

even if i hve to wrap the exhuast or something,

its much louder than i thought lol and i wanted the asthetic more than audio.....

help!

i think your only option is to fit an extra cherrybomb type silencer in the midpipe (some pics in my blog, last page i think) but you could try reducing the outlet pipe diameter (up inside) :)

how would i do that frank?

sorry, would you mind explaining it in the simplist possible, non mechanical way :(

thanks for your help,

might have to rename my blog, "Tom's 1.0 ( but Frank is the brains )" lol

lol tom :) if that (4 inch ?) tailpipe runs right through the backbox, its acting like a megaphone really  and a metal collar shoved up inside the tailpipe (out of site) with a 35mm hole would quieten it

so if i was to take the back box off, then place a pipe with a smaller bore inside this, secure it with what? ( weld it in? ) then replace the back box it should make it quieter? i dont really want to touch the back box, it cost me £180 lol

thank you frank

i,m not sure of the design of it really tom, if its a 40mm inlet pipe then a 4" absorbtion pipe right through, its not "silencing" at all, but the torpedo type silencers (i,ve got 3 in a row on mine) have a 40mm inlet, a 4" absorbtion tube then a 40mm outlet, and my 3 torpedo,s make mine sound like stock, but without the powersapping baffles :)
could you knockup a temporary wooden restrictor to see if it has any effect ?

if you only wanted it to look different, you should have just got an exhaust trim for £15 would have saved you a packet for spending on something else.

i will go and have a mooch round the locals then,

thanks frank (Y)

maybe thats the wrong word to use,

i did want the sound, as well has the ability to say, " oh yeah... its a HKS exhaust :p " and have a good sound coming outside the car but i just didnt realise how loud it would be inside the car, #### pedestrians lol

You can buy sound deadening sheets from car stereo specialists. It can be be quite pricey by the time you've finished and you'd have to do the majority of your floor to have any effect.
