Morning all, hope we all had a good X-mas.
Been a while since i've been on here!

Have a question about Sky. At my old house i had sky plus, and i've recently just moved to a new place which is all plumbed for Sky plus, i just don't have the box etc.

Now - my mum still live at the old place, but i can't take the box out of there as she would have no T.V. Now, if i got her a normal sky box would that work for just council tv (BBC1, 2, Chanel 3, 4 and 5)? Would i also need to get a viewing card for it?

Any help would be braw.

i think you wont get ch 4 or5 yet (supposed to be on freesat soon)
a pace high def box (90 quid) is great for bbc hd, german hd and hundreds of free to air channels

You'd need a viewing card for sky, even if your not a subscriber. It just displays 'insert viewing card' otherwise.

Baws. Do i have to contact Sky for one of those or can i get a freeview card to put in instead?

I'm in the same boat as you! My sister had sky all setup but moved out, taking the box etc with her & leaving the dish behind. I ended up getting a Freeview PVR instead.
