Short aerial losing signal

Last week I fitted a stubby aerial to my car, and since then my radio signal has been gradually getting worse. If I search for stations, it only finds ones i've saved manually before, but I noticed that if I put my hand over the top of the aerial/hold it, the signal gets much better and even finds stations quicker.

Has anyone had a stubby aerial and had this problem before/fixed it, or would it be best finding a new aerial/going back to the standard one?

i had the same issue with a bee sting type ariel on my old peugeot 205 i ripped it off and put the standard one back on. not sure what the cause is maybe just cheap stuff.

Cheap stubby aerials are rubbish, go back to standard or find a genuine nissan aerial from another model that fits (if there is one)

He's right, I has a bee sting once. It was fine around town but anywhere vaguely out of the way and the radio went crackly. Got stung for a new Nissan one and it's fine .

i got a anti theft shark fin aerial real small bout 3 inches long and i gained frequency and less crackle, i must be lucky

I wanted a shark fin aerial but settled for the stubby one, wish I hadn't now. Where did you get yours from?

Got it off ebay, Cant fault it, cost me £45 like

Might be why mine isn't so good, it was only about £6 :laugh:
