Rotten underside of doors

Hi all,
Recently i've noticed that when i open my drivers door i notice a small flake or two or rust on the inner sill. So earlier when giving her a clean i had a look at the underside of the door, and there are a few patches of rust all the way along, and in some cases, completely rotten.The passenger side door has the same problems.

My sills are rock solid both sides fortunately. I was just wondering whether if this was a common problem, and whether or not it will be a problem for future MOT's, even though it isn't a structural part of the car.

Drainage holes blocked?
Doors holding water ?

I'll get some photo's up tomorrow when the suns up. If they were holding water then they aren't anymore because there's some nasty fist sized rust holes

I had the exact same problem. I was told that it's a common problem. Correct me if I wrong. But anyways. Mine was rusted from one wheel to the other. Both sides had holes in it as well from rust. Anyways paid 100 pound and I had it rewelded and under sealed. Well happy with results
