reverse light

hey guys can anyone tell me a reason why my reverse light doesnt work? i did an engine swap for a 1.3 i did have a 1.0 L 93 model. Thats the only thing that has stopped working. is the wiring any different or have i missed something. how can i test it? anyone any ideas???? also anyone know if u need one that works automatically or can u put it on a switch for the mot????

Yeh you probably missed some wiring down the back of the gearbox. mabye not grounded properly, etc.

Pull the top part of the wiring loom apart, get back down there with some sandpaper and clean up all the grounds and connectors.

so i guess its all the same wiring down there then? can u get to it from underneath

You probably could but its easier to attack it from above.

It could be the reversing light switch on the gear selector.

I've had my Micra since 2002 and it's gone twice- maybe it's a weak link on them...

did you do a gearbox swap aswell? if you did that is the reason as they are different.

Yeah it's definitely the reversing light switch. You may get away with welding a small piece onto the contact, but they invariably fail. In Ireland - euro 50. Think you have to stop gearbox oil from escaping while replacing. Regards. Tom
