My Micra has me beat, stuttering or cutting out badly under load, I found a seriously dirty fuel filter and badly worn plugs, but my poor luck with cars held true and neither new items fixed it.

I live on the worst road in the world to figure these issues out, with a steep dirt driveway on a Mt road with very few points to turn around or go slow, so I will need to get it towed now.

But, I have zero idea on a good garage in Brisbane, not used anyone in so long I have no idea who is any good?, so if you know someone good, or know a really good Nissan guy, or even if your a wiz with diagnostics (I'm useless with diag), please let me know.

Worst part on the Micra is it's idling fine, no error codes, just my luck...

Not sure were you are in Brisbane Bishop, but I use ERD Motorsports down at Stapylton. He is a Skyline specialist and a club sponsor, knows his nissans VERY well. I've used him for a few jobs on the Micra (and Skyline of course) when I've needed something done I don't have the tools for.

Good honest guy who knows his stuff :)

Ouch yeah, considering the tow and then transport to get it again, should have mentioned I'm North or North/West Brisbane, just up a Mt from The Gap.

Taking it to a Nissan place would be nice though, if they could figure it out any faster or cheaper.

Hi Mate, FYI when my micra had these symptoms it turned out to be a faulty fuel pump. The pump seemed to be working but it turned out was worn out and not providing enough pressure for the fuel injection system when under load. Just replacing it solved this problem for me. NSM on this site sent a new pump to me quickly for a very competitive price.

Another common issue with K11 micras running rough is the throttle body and the following fix often helps.

I don't know, with the cost of mechanical repairs these days, it is tempting to just try replacing/repairing/swapping the 3 primary bits most people seem to find that have failed.

For the most part it seems either the coil/dizzy fails, or the fuel pump, or the throttle body creates running issues, but with the TB I suspect my fault is a bit severe and constant to be that, more when it's not been creating any issues thus far.

Anyone got a know good used distributer?.

Hmm, dizzy is a weird setup on the Micra, but I figured it was worth probing mine with the meter after I found the specs in the Haynes, can't get the damn inner cover off (no torx in my tools that small) so could not figure out how to probe the primary wind, but secondary between HT and probing to what I think is the secondary LT + gave an interesting result.

Manual says like 1.0K, mine seems to be 11.8K, err which is I'm right means low power to the plugs, so weak ass spark?, could be I just have a failed coil, though it's a dizzy replacement anyway.

Edit: I pulled the dizzy off for a better look, can measure the primary windings via the plug but that likely included the resistor so 1.1 ohm seems ok for that, meaning it's why the car still will run and idle (primary is your ignition pickup), secondary still comes up 11.7 or so no matter how I can measure it, so yeah I hope I have found the likely fault.

Just a quick follow up, could someone who is able please measure the secondary resistance on a known good coil for me?, I'd like to confirm mine is bad for sure to justify maybe just buying a new one.

Ok, me buying a new dizzy could have been a huge waste of time, secondary resistance comes up the same on the new as the old, either the Haynes and online specs are wrong, or my multi meter is faulty.
