rear parking sensors on 03 SVE-how do they work?

hiya

i bought my first Micra yest-its an 03 1.4 SVE and i love it to bits.

just a couple of things i need sorting-the factory radio has been replaced by a pioneer one and the steering audio controls dont work but ive order the parts to get it fixed so they will and my boyfriend is connecting them for me-i dont need any codes or anything for the radio do i?

also its the sve model so has rear parking sensors but they dont seem to be working-how do i get them to? is it somethign to do with the fact it doesnt have the original factory radio or is this unrelated? i have read all through the manual and googled it but to no avail. i didnt ask the seller as assumed they would just automatically work but they dont so thought id ask here first as seller wasnt a nissan specialist. just wondered how they work!!

no you shouldnt need a code for the radio as its an aftermarket one its only when you put a standard head unit back in that you will need to put the code in

on the sensors you should hear a beeping as you get close to an object are they standard sensors in the bumper or after market ones

they are standard sensors in the bumper-they dont make any noise though? does it have anything to do with the fact its not the factory fitted radio-didnt know if the noise came from there you see.

also recently the engine warning light has come on-just the steady orange one. i took out an extended warranty so am taking it to the garage thurs morning to find out what couold be wrong. dont think its anything to do with the rear sensors though as they havent worked since i picked it up sat but warning light only came on yest when i came to drive home.is it something with the engine or is it just a gen malfunction light? as drives fine and cant hear anything wrong.

not having much luck tbh but then i never do lol!

not sure will ask when i go to work tomorrow with the sensors for ya as i work for nissan building cars

with the engine light it could be a sensor has stoped working or anything chuck best to get it up on the computer and find out the code

ok thanks a lot dont really need the sensors but just wondering why they dont work!!!

yeah hoping garage will sort malfunction light out-just glad i took out a warranty lol

yea i sold my micra and bought a dirty diesel golf and got warrenty out on that glad as well as after about 3 days of owning it the gear box broke lets hope all the expensive stuff breaks before the warrenty runs out eh

My Micra has the OEM parking sensors.

There is a separate speaker for these, nothing at all to do with the stereo (i've swapped mine too!).

When putting the car in reverse, you should hear a single beep, they are then on automatically.

There is nothing that can turn them off or adjust them.
