Picked up my new toy today

Finally picked up my new toy today, its a 2001 1.4 SE and i am surprised as to how it goes, off cam it is sooooo gutless, but get it on cam and holy bugger does it go, gonna order my lowering springs in the next few days and also an FSE valve that should cure the lower rev range delay. just one question tho, does the almera 1.6 airbox make a difference on the 1.4? or is it the same?

the 1.4 should respond really well to breathing mods (you have the same inlet and exhaust system as the 1.0 eh)

its begging for something better designed eh, even shorter runners than the pre-coilpack type, and a 2 x deeper cat on yours,
a modded mani needs a better downpipe too tho tbh (they,re a bit of a peashooter)

so a modified mani and bigger downpipe would help. Would a downpipe from 1.3 be better or am i just clutching at straws, not much info for a 1.4 that i can find on here. And thanks for the info frank

they all drop down to about 31mm iirc, yours is a bit shorter where it curls upwards to the cat tho.
seb fitted one from matt humphris i believe (but that does away with the cat tho), or else the 40mm peter lloyd full system eh

Yes the bigger front pipe comes from MPH (see its awesome pdf catalog AJC : http://www.humphrisoxford.co.uk/ )

With the FSE Valve, what does this actually do? are they easy to fit and does it make much differnce? cheers
