Panel lights question

Hi all,

I only has one bulb lighting the instrument panel, so I changed all of the bulbs I could find. Interestingly, the ones that came out didn't look blown.

When I tried it out, there was no backlight at all! Also (and this might be co-incidence) the car was unusually hard to start. All of the other panel lights (turn signals, air bag etc) seem to be fine. The interior light, etc all work as designed.

Does anyone have any thoughts?

Wouldn't this be the same fuse that runs the interior light circuit?

Unlikely as the interior light can be on when the key isn't even in the ignition...have a look at the fuse guide and check :)

Right, I've solved this. I was foolish enough to replace all the bulbs with ones that came out of a scrap cluster... After putting in half a dozen brand new bulbs it was fine. Oddly the old ones didn't look blown, though they clearly were.

As an aside, the local Nissan dealer wanted £5.50 for each light! My local independent factor charged a much more reasonable 90p a piece.
