Non-starting issue

1997 Micra Passion 1.0

I had difficulty starting my Micra, it just wouldn't fire, so after scanning the forum I decided to follow the advice about removing the fuel pump fuse and then replacing it. Strange thing was there was no fuse installed.

I'm puzzled how I've been driving trouble-free for months without a fuel pump fuse.

Anyone explain please?

Seems the only feasible conclusion so I'll try to investigate further when I get chance.
In the meantime its starting and running OK again with a new 15A fuse installed.

the fuelpump circuit is wired for safety reasons, if the ecu gets no cam angle sensor signals it cuts the pump after 5 secs (akin to the old inertia switch impact/cut system)
