New Latch with Boot Light Switch but No Cable Opening Latch

Please refer to photos below.
I recently bought a new boot latch with the light switch on it.
Ive got it all wired up and working, then i realised the handle release by drivers seat doesnt work with the switched latch. There is no release trigger which the cable trips to release the catch, arrow and circled in photo.
Has anyone else had this issue? im looking for easy solutions.
My current thinking is to add a bracket in same place using pop rivets to my original latch, to hold a normal door light switch to. It should work exactly the same but the cable release will work also.
Any other suggestions welcome.

Anyone got a faulty or cheap boot latch (with cable opening arm) they dont want?
Im thinking i could drill the rivet out and swap the arms over. Would need a hole drilling in body for release arm too, but only half an hours job (prob end up being a whole afternoon🤣🤣). I just need a donor release arm please (i can collect west yorks, or will pay for post, any help appreciated, thank you).

I dont want to destroy both these latches just in case my cunning plan goes horribly wrong.🤣🤣
