Mother in law needing help!

Right guys..im looking for some of the better mechanical knowledge and experience here! My "mother-in-laws" car makes a rather loud clunk and a violent pulse from the pedal, more so at slow speeds. The car is a Rover 416 and has ABS - however it is not the ABS kicking in as its only at slower speeds and its not emergency braking. It only really does it around 20 or less. My first impressions were a crack in the disk and its causing the pad to catch on it!

Could anyone else throw some ideas for me to check?!
Im taking the car into my workshop next week to get it on the ramps and have a good look

Check the disks etc and see if any visible damage. Even if not, change them as well as pads and see if its anything to do with them.
