Most commonly used material for car bumpers

Does anyone know what the most commonly used material is.

I'm trying to do a material analysis for one of my uni reports, and i'm sort of "checking my answer" with what is actually used in the real world.

So whats are the micra bumpers made out of. And can anyone identify the attached material?

Thanks!

Oh. OK that took a lot less googling than I thought.

So that bumper is UP GF, Unsaturated Polyester Glass Fibre Reinforced...

(its not off a micra, btw.).

Which is unfortunate. Because I didn't do tests on Polyester haha!

Expanded Polypropylene (EPP)

Expanded Polypropylene (EPP)

Polypropylene

those are the main ones i think, we use some here at my work. (aerospace)

polyurethene is normaly used (after the porsche 928)

but depends what car,

a toyota hi-lux is mild steel,
a saab 99 is rubber...
a hummer h2 is chrome over steel...

lucky there are some smart asses here cos i would have said plastic lol

Here are my results, by the way.

x axis is Strain, in %... it got cut off when i edited it.

Nylon 66 Unfilled didn't break and stretched to about 700%
