1999-2000 model HK11 factory Electric Power Steering (EPS) column!!!

Man this would be crazy to install. Really really cool and lightweight/compact to install.

Interior light LED version!

They say: ultra low energy consumption and about 10x the brightness of the factory thing. That's pretty cool.

Yeah same mate. I would kill for that EPS column too.

Just be really cool I reckon. Because its electric, you could intercept it with your own potentiometers and make the assistance anything you like. Even have a low and high speed adjustment. Bloody cool.

cisco you actually adjust the level of power assistance on the K11 standard power steering!!

I believe you can do it with the jaycar digital pulse adjuster thingo.

Remember that electrical plug thing you connected when you installed all the power steering plimbing? Yeh well thats it!! That thing regulates the pressure (and therefore the level of power assistance and how heavy the steering wheel is).

Although after testing gtrholic's car with the consult computer, his ECU wasn't picking up that the power steering was in use. Unlike my car where the ECU was detecting and obviously controlling the power steering assistance.

Also with the electric servo, I don't think you'd be able to adjust the feel of the steering - unless it has like force feedback style equipment in it... Anyway as the steering wheel is no longer a direct link to th steering rack you SHOULD be able to adjust the steering wheel movement to front wheel movement ratio!!! Only slightly, but I don't see why that won't be possible with the right electronics!

Cheers

Hmm I'm sure I read in the nissan manual or somewhere that that electrical plug on the k11 hydraulic power steering is to tell the ECU when to raise the idle etc. Its for when you have the steering under load at idle, that sensor picks that up, and the ECU raises idle.

The guy off Autospeed intercepted the torque sensors off his EPS system (on Toyota Prius), to tell the system that the torque sensors were reading different figures than they actually were. Resulted in him having a fair bit of control over the steering feel.

I love the feel of my super-s non power steering when driving around and for handling, but it would be quite cool to have something like this kick in below say 40kmh, make parking easier etc.

Yes, thats also what it does. You wouldn't have noticed this with the white car as it wasnt standard power steering but my car the steering gets heavier the faster you go.

I experimented by removing the plug and the steering was really light and easy at all speeds. Was really quite dangerous as it lacked feel.

Was a bit like driving the new mitsu colt. Lifeless, dull and boring steering that sort of lacks self-centre ability.

Hmm wow that's pretty clever. Because I did actually think that the white car certainly felt a bit light at higher speeds.

But why wouldn't the generic micra ECU even in whitey just detect the plug being plugged in and know what to do?

Oh I mean the S-Shortcake car.. In that car, the aussie power steering was installed.

In my second white micra (white knight), the Japanese system was installed, but I was pretty sure it still had a plug for that plug, and that it did fit.

No idea mate. I know chris's ecu doesnt detect a difference and there's not meant to be any difference between the 95 super s ecu and the 95 lx ecu.

I guess we'll never know until one of becomes a hardware engineer specialising on micra ecus :p

micra_pete over at micraholics.co.uk may know if there is any difference in the ECUs.

He has done a fair bit of work with re-mapping Micra ECUs so may know about the electric power steering stuff.

They are on the yahoo auctions site. Either go to Japan, or ask someone who lives there to bid on it for you :)

This one said it was the manual gearbox from a 1300cc 2000 model AK11. Weird. Because the housing looks different to ours in a few areas.. Although overall very similar in its main features and dimensions..

Did they update the 30A box or something? A later revision??

A really nice aero kit for the HK11.

For a bodykit I don't mind this too much actually ..

Take it to a body shop, say you want them copied then fitted...

Most of the time if you can prove that they will sell a couple of sets then they will copy and fit them to your car pretty cheaply...

yeah... will need spacers. according to the hyper rev mag, most of them are running close to a 0 offset. my wheels are +25 so i will need a spacer 25mm thick to bring the wheels out. the only problem is, my over fenders are 70mm wider than normal, 20mm wider than the mulholland and aspect over fenders. they are the exact ones in ciscos pic one on top of each other.

itd be nice to have wheels with the correct offset to fill the guards, but unfortunately unless you buy them new (if you can find an manufacturer who makes them in a small wheel) 0 offset sits way too far out. when it came to sell the wheels, they would be very hard to get rid of too, as they would not suit many cars. if you use spacers, i could sell my wheels in future to lancer owners etc.

From a legal perspective:

A 25mm spacer is by far one of the unsafest things you can put on a car. It places WAY too much stress on the studs which can very easily break even under normal circumstances...

Imagine your wheel flying off at 60km/hr or even 10km/hr. Someone can get seriously hurt

In my own personal opinion I would never recommend or use spacers, not even 5mm ones
