repost, i think its off ciscos site, sounds nice to me. saying that looks like a cheap camera with cheap mic so i sopose its hard to tell

its evades its posted on here under what a turbo micra sounds like or somthing like....

sounds fine to me the micraphone is under the hood of the car

i thats the same one!! so is it defo sum1s of cisco's site then?! that evade bloke?!

its a micra from new zeland, and hes running SR20DET injectors, thats why its ticking.....

its an awesome video, and i love to keep playing it and hoping mine will sound the same.....one day...

maybe in a month or two..

I know nothing about cars yet so can i just ask, why does the turbo rev up quickly and then make that noise like shushushushu when it the revs go down??

That noise is turbo stall, or some call it incorrectly waste gate flutter. its actually bad for the turbo, and a dumpvalve normal or re-circulating one reduces it and takes the stress off the turbo a bit.

you can replicate this awesome noise by fitting a chirrup valve to the wastegate, wich unlike normal wastegates, they open and close in rapid succesion...

you can hear them on the old Escort WRC cosworth of the early 90's.

thats what i want mine to sound like...

waaaaaaagh pdadadada waaaaah pdadadada

Lol antony waaaaaaagh pdadadada waaaaah pdadadada sounds good to me

The dump valave hes got....do some people call it a pigeon valve?
unlike the normal PISHHHHHHH <-- hummo_O

Omg so thats the turbo that you hear when you see the car acceleration like a beast and he takes his foot of the acceleration and its like PSSSSST ?

I (edited) love that noise, whatever it is lol. I love the change of gears aswell in tuned cars that noise is awesome, if its even the gears. I really dont have a clue. :(

Dont worry with the rate at which your asking questions you're going to learn pretty fast :) lol

Lol sorry if its annoying, il try and slow down if you want

Its cause it took so long to activate my account and these questions have been building up! :p

no feel free, just remember to use the search first, although i dont think you have repeated anything so far... :p

btw Bob thats totally daft thing to say considering how many smaller than 2.0 cars there are on the road with turbos (and its incresingly accepted that smaller engines with turbos perform as larger ones and are more efficient). Throttle bodies may be more responsive but sound on a road car ridiculous! You will never ever get a graph like this from a 1.0 car with TB's! :)

thay have to put turbo's on them to make any power and how long does the engine last 30k before it need major repairs.
that power grath of yours how long does your bottem end last 5mins,are your conrods standard

Bottom end is totally standard - as is rest of the engine. I have had two engines making this power now (one slightly less). One lasted to 95K - ignition problems killed this one. and the other one is currently on 70 ish and still going fine.

i dont know how you keep your cool ed?

BOB... jees, where did you dig that one up?

anything smaller than a 2.0

like a nissan 200sx..... its a 1.8 ya spoon..

what about the Seat leon cupra R thats a 1.9

and the renault 5 turbo....

and not to mention the 1980's renault formula 1 engine.... 1.5 litres 1600BHP...

do a little research please...

Alot of 80,s Le-man cars were under 2.0 with turbo,s and mucho mucho revs.

Turbo stall isnt bad for the Turbo as ive seen t28,s do this for 50k without needing a new turbo or puffing smoke.

The CA18DET 1.8ltr is good for over 600bhp without blowing up if its built right.

The noise is actually a small group of pigeons that like in his engine bay:upside:

LMAO :D

i think that it's fine to turbo small engines, its more efficant than getting a bigger engine.

and turbos don't damage the car if you have them setup right, its the cheap turbo setups that kill the engines. Ed's ST will go on for ever cos its a factory nissan engine and they know their shiznay ;)

ive just been researching how many turbo engines are under 2.0....

that includes all WRC engines...

they are either 1998cc or 1994 cc......lol

motorcycle engines.......ala the turbo hyabusa....900bhp so far......

well i have given up proving myself right.... its just not fun anymore..lol

what about the suzuki cappucino its 680cc 3 cylinder and turbo, a mate of mine has one and it can pull well but its limited by the ecu at 85mph

As much as I understand the point your trying to make, including insults does not help.

You just got your first 10% for that!

i was meening to be light hearted friendly dig...light what you do with mates.....didnt mean for it to be insulting...

my appologies...

Don't F1 engines get rebuilt after every run? So that's not practicle for every day use. A bike engine is different to a car engine. Short stroke, high revving etc, uses quad TB's and carbs plus proper exhausts...

yeah i suppose so....

it was a bit of a sweeping statement though.....and of course.... forethought is needed before any "sweeping" or "definative" statements are to be made...

and alas.......the type of engine motorbike or car wasnt specified......

it just said... engines.....

but i digress..

i still love that video...apart from the carpet on the dash....whats that about?
