Just a quick question would it be alright to remove the pipe connected to the air box and just have the air box with the filter with no pipe just the hole??

Yeah, but there's no point

The pipe feeds in cold air, which makes the car respond better.
Take it off, and it breathes in warmer air from the engine bay.
Cold air is denser, so more oxygen for the engine.

Sounds good, is it a straight swap as I'm guessing the Almera box will be bigger?

Cheers fella, ended up looking at all of it, looking good. Think a turbo might be on my to do list after the nismo kit is fitted
