Micra K11 2002 weird cracking sound?

I wonder if anyone else has come across this prob before. It only happens when the outside temp is lower that about 5 degrees. When I turn the steering there's a cracking/creaking sound coming from both sides at the front. Thinking it might either be the steeing rack or the grease in the c.v joints getting a bit thick with the temperature. My model has power steeing.

Any ideas?

Exactly the same with my car (same model year too). I would be very happy if someone could come up with at least a hint. Thx!

Yeah i had that a couple of weeks ago on my late 2000 and came to the conlusion of bottom ball joints but more likely because it hadnt been out for a few weeks. Still the most likely dry ball joints.
