Micra 1.2 engine replacement

Hi my 2007 micra 1.2 initia needs a new engine my question is if I just replace the engine with another k12 1.2 will it just start or will there be some need to reprogramme the ecu

i dont think anyone on here has changed a k12 engine mick, the common rail diesel models probably need programming, i doubt yours will tho

Correction Frank I have changed an engine in my car... used the opportunity to upgrade to a 1.4 swapped over the long block with no issues at all . I should say though that mines a 04 pre-facelift model and does not have a smart key system
