Micra 1.0 Auto feeling thirstyhan

Just a quick question...My 97 Micra 1.0 Automatic seems to be drinking fuel as much as a bigger car.I have had the car for a couple of months now.The micra seems to be doing around 20-30 MPG.I have serviced the car with new oil and filters all round plus new NGK spark plugs.

I drive carefully, the cars done 32k and is in good condition.Could it be the Autobox or maybe the cold weather ? Or something else ? I didn't expect the little car/engine to be so thirsty.

There are no leaks or smell of fuel.
The breaks aren't binding.
The Tyres are fully inflated.

What can i expect from my car ?

Thanks for now

We used to have one of those, should be in the high 30s to mid 40s mpg ! Driving carefully does not always return high mpg on an auto box. Driving slowly/carefully keeps the revs high-ish for longer, drive normally and see if it makes a difference.
Other than that I could only suggest brakes binding a bit ...maybe ?
