Can u tow a trailer without having a rear bumper on your car (ie so u can get the towbar on without wrecking ur bumper)

Yes or No?

Cheers

can you not try get a crappy bumper from a scrap yard mate? then it doesn't matter if gets wrecked :)

go for the black car blue bumper look

not sure on the legal side of things tho. would think you probably need bumpers or they wouldn't be on the car in the first place :D

Well that may be an option, but dont really want to spend any money on sorting that side of things out. A possible idea was I could tow it without a rear bumper, then when i get to the show, stick the rear bumper back on, and vice versa for coming back. There is no one else wanting to tow so its getting desperate now.

i'll prob be going to the scrappies at the weekend as my mate needs some stuff, will have a look for ya price wise etc :)

wonder if we could get a cracked/smashed one cheap and then glue it together?

I know you normally need a bumper, I think mainly to protect other road users. I've seen a few debumpered golfs and escorts who have had to sort something else out! I would imagine this still applies if you're towing but that the penalty would be a vehicle defect form.

Phone your local police station and ask, ask what the penalty for not having one is too. :)

Why not just get a removable towbar on?? Then you can take it off at the show, towing it shouldn't be much of a problem and I can't see why it would damage the bumper. :)

Cos i have the kit on my car, so therefore it wont fit, Id need to hack the rear bumper and splitter to bits.

I may have a spare sorted though, waiting to find out

as long as you dont have any sharp edges you can get away with having no bumpers at all, wodnt look pretty tho

you dont ned a bumper on a car i believe, as long as you have no exposed sharp edges you'll be ok

The official line "iany exposed surface must have at least a 5mm radius". This is so that you don't injure the poor pedestrian you've just reversed over the top of.

except if you reversed over a pedestrian you'd run them over with your trailor first, so an exposed bumper is the least of their worries...
