i have to clean my k and n filter and im looking for ALTERNATIVES to buying the cleaning kit. what kind of oil can i use to re oil it (will normal engine oil do) and can i use normal washing up liquid to clean it.

I would seriously recommend getting the proper cleaning kit. It's only a tenner and will last for a good few cleans (I got about 6 cleans out of mine).

Just make sure you get the spray oil, not the drip. And don't make my mistake of over-oiling it. Wreaked my first filter that way.

Which type filter you running? The cone or the cylinder?

im running the cone type. how cum you cant just wash em.

i think its gonna be easier for ya to buy the cleaning/oiling kit.

thats what i'd use, i think its worth the money

Use the proper kit, less than a tenner off of Ebay.

but u did ask how to clean it without the kit, buy some air filter oil from hellfrauds,,
