K10 holding back at 80mph-could it be the fuel pump?

I have owned this (1.2) k10 from new (1992). Currently has 135k on the clock. Never had this problem. I was on the motorway this week, the car was ok at 70 ish. I went to overtake, and as I got to about 80mph the car gave symptoms of fuel shortage, even though I had half a tank full. Could it be the fuel pump? Has anyone else had this problem? While ever I stayed around 70mph it was fine. Any ideas guys?

Have you checked the basics? Ie air filter dirty would give these symptoms, coil ht leads or plugs on their way out would also

the pump itself is mechanical, it is driven by the camshaft. so I think this will not be the reason. check the vaccuum lines first, you can check them with some brake cleaner. spray it onto them when the car is running and if the engine revs up, the line is broken

its only a 1.2, surprised you got 80 out of it ;) I would check your fuel filter 1st. Easy to get at and pence to change. But since you live local to me, ive got a spare fuel pump that you can try.
