how do i go about removing springs so i can cut coils?

i wanna remove my front and rear springs so i can cut 2 coils off each.... how ?

For the fronts you might need spring compressors? I never removed springs.
Remove the leg, use spring compressors, undo top nut and remove spring.

For the rear I undone the shock then got someone to stand on the rear hub pulling it down just enough to wiggle the rear spring free.
