How come 1.3 is the popular choice?

Why not the 1.4?
Dumb question but is the 1.3 easier to work with? More mods. available for it?

the 1.4 is a coilpack engine with a totaly different wiring setup although im sure that just using the block with a normal CG13 head might work.. plus the fact there arnt many about as they were only used in the K11.5's as i call them the really late K11's

You're right... I only found a handful of 1.4s on auto trader.. good choice or bad though? I have the 1.4 engne and it is a decent mileage... just hope I did the right thing.. only 6bhp more than a 1.3 right? and it was marketed in Japan as 1.3 as it has a cubic capacity of 1348cc? Not sure.. cheers.

They'd be more popular if they were around longer, but the 1.3 has been around since 93 which is why they're far more common. Nothing wrong with the 1.4 though, Nis has his turbo'd up to 200bhp+ , which shows there more than capable & reliable.

Yes, but he has had many,many problems in doing this, basically, the 1.3 is a more simple engine to modify and has had the bits 'specially' designed for it, which the 1.4 has not.
