HID HELP!!!

I have a Micra rally car and have recently bought a Lamp pod for night rallys. I then went on to convert the lamps to HID's.... This is where it got a bit confusing.... I researched HID's and started to understand what they meant...
The H number (H1, H4 etc) was a fitment suggestion
The W was the wattage which needed to be the right wattage for the ballast
the K number was the colour (5000k - white)
Anyway i ended up buying H4 35w 5000k Bulbs single beam
When they turned up they had aglare shield fitted!!
Does this mean i bought the wrong type of bulbs or do i just remove the glare shield? if so will these then be the bright or do i just need different bulbs ???

You can remove the shield and they should fit like a standard bulb.

HIDs are illegal for road use anyway unless you have projectors, self cleaning and self levelling headlights.

You'll be alright if it's for non-road use. Skymera's spot on though. Unless your HIDs are factory fit and in perfect working order, you've no chance of getting through the new MOT wih them.
