managed to download some silly poker game onto the desktop, installed itself n all that n i was like woops, ever since my internet connecvtion has been playing up, removed from add/remove programs fine, tried to delete the downloaded file from desktop keeps saying its in use - how can i delete the stupid thing??

Reinstall it, find out what the registry files are called from the installed folder, then uninstall and then check your registry’s with regedit and if the registry is still there delete it. Then close you internet connection all together, as it could be in use through internet explorer, then open task manager, look in processes and find the process that relates to the program and end it. Then you should be able to delete it. Also locate the folder it created on install and delete that, as I think it will still be there after you uninstall it. If that doesn’t work, get someone you hate and a good friend who drives, drive at about 60, and launch the computer out the window at the person you hates face... It won’t solve you problem...well it will... but it will also solve other problems in your life.

F disk!! we had it when my dad went on porn (couple years ago) lol downloaded diallers for "sites" poker games, lottery things was mental!! he doesnt chance it any more...

try adaware or spybot, also an antivirus (google housecall).

personally id just format it, and be careful of porn and gambling sites

try windows clean up utility, if you having trouble uninstalling any program, this cleans the program files and the registry

A tad overkill!

First of all, if you cant delete it then it is still running. Check your running programs list to see whats there. You can type each process into google or someplace and you'l usually get a good enough description of each item to tell you how important it is, or what the program is related to. Close each program as necessary & try the removal at the end.

If that doesnt work, go to Start > Run and type Msconfig. Click on the startup tab, and again, look through here for any suspicious items. You can speed up your system alot by removing entries from here, but you can also break it too so be careful!!

Once removing items, with the combination of uninstallations, Registry clean ups, Ad Aware & Spybot search & destroy & probably several restarts, you should get rid of the dodgey applications.

Download a program called Hijackthis, run it, and send the log to alan @ alanarnold.co.uk if you have any difficulties & i'l try highlight the crap entries for you
