help with turbo downpipe

hi guys. right then, ive got two brand new full sills for the beastey, need them welding up....
got my turbo setup sorted, noddie sending / sent me a turbo manifold, i have a gt2569R turbo, forge actuator at 5psi, intercooler, piping, oil lines etc etc etc...
im going to have a front side exit exhaust like little bandit.... infront of the front wheels.. (basically straight from the turbo, into a cat and out through a small silencer and oooot the bumper..lol)

now heres the snag..

the turbo i have is mounted the same way as the hks kit. same config and everything. i could get a downpipe elbow from an s13/14 200sx but the problem is, they point up... not down..lol
davey_c had a stock nissan elbow that pointed down and wondered what it was from?

if anyone has any idea what car i can get a t2/t25/t28 exhaust elbow from that will point down i will love you forever!!:p its either that or go custom, but i cannot afford that atm.

thanks guys,

Pulsar GTiR, S14 200sx have T28s as standard and i think they point down.

Yep and to the right which will mean it'll point out the side of the car just bolt the sx elbow and mid pipe on saw off what you don't need pure ear drum bleeder

Pulsar would run to the back of the car and would need a 90 deg bent pipe to get it out the side

Unless you just use the elbow and make your own downpipe...

naah, they point the wrong way,..

my turbo is sat on a top mounted manifold with the compressor facing the back of the car (inlet on the passenger side) and the wastegate actuator at the front of the car (downpipe on the drivers side) if i used a pulsar downpipe the elbow would point straight through the bonnet as the SR20DET engine has the turbo hanging from the exhaust (upside-down)

i need an elbow that is the other way around. so as you look at the downpipe from the turbo flange the wastegate portion is on the left (not the right like on the pulsar, s13/14 etc)

cheers though guys!:p

Ah you didn't say it was top mount, have you tried getting an sx top mount down pipe? Ask on sxoc in wanted section

Ant, out of interest, considering you're using a gt2560r turbo, what are you plans? That's not exactly a small turbo dude ;) I'll be interested to see how it spools and produces boost. I doubt you'll get much from it below 4000rpm.

yeah 4000rpm isnt a problem.. i actually want it to have lots of lag...lol so i can drive on the motorway below the threshold...:p

my set up is my old engine (the 96bhp 127,000 miler) with a brand new genuine nissan head gasket, that turbo... lambda sensor unplugged until i can afford to send it to ed for a nistune and the turbo at 5psi, the turbo will be running through davey_c's old top mount, modded skyline gtr intercooler and a bov from a 600bhp evo6 i found.lol
its more of an experiment actualy. see how long the stock engine will last at 5psi on stock fueling with the lambda unplugged,,,,:p:p:p:p:p
im running the exact same suspension setup as franks old bluey and im going for plastic windows and stripped out doors. bidding on a flocked dash on flea bay atm and have just paid for two new sills....

just need the time off work to build the little cow..lol

I see, the only reason I asked was because the capability for that turbo is pretty enormous. You'd be looking at around 280bhp with the right supporting systems, so for 5psi it's rather wasted :( With stock compression and cams you could end up with a powerband which is pretty un-useable. You may also find the lag could be too much in that the driveability really suffers as a result. Ed would know better though.....

As for the stock ECU handling any boost. I think Stani proved that a number of times and even had a dyno print out to support it. After about 2psi the ECU lost all control and the AFR's were pretty horrendous at points, I seem to remember figures in the 16:1 or leaner range, which means death will shortly follow.

You want lots of lag for motorway driving lol you must do alot because it would do my tree in going through town and having to wait 8 years to pull away from a bus
That turbo is a gt2569r im stuggling to remember what that one is? but as said above seems a bit wasted should buy a cheaper smaller turbo and use the money else where
Plus motorway driving turn the boost down, I thought boost is a function of engine load not so much rpm? I mean higher loads and throttle openings the turbo will produce boost. Under light load/throttle conditions such as cruising the engine will be in vacuum, until you get on it. So you won't be boosting hard on the motorway you'll be out of boost
these diesel turbos would be #### on fuel if they boosted hard at cruising speed

yeah, thats a typo.... its supposed to be a gt2560r
its a t25 exhaust housing with t28 compressor.

yeah, like i said though, im not bothered if it blows. i have my mr2. lol that just gives me an excuse to find a set of pistons and cams n get her over to 200bhp mark.... when i can afford it,.

still no good on the dump pipe tho. all the top mount 200sx manifolds have seperate wastegates for the T3/T4.
i was looking though at the escort cosworth elbows which seem to have the right orientation. they used the gt28 at about 1993 just before they binned the escort rs cosworth. finding one though is going to prove difficult.

i supose does actually sound a bit pricey i got two gtr turbos for 100 quid as theyre basically the turbo your talking about seriously mate wanted ad on sxoc will reveal exactly what you want theres always people looking to palm off their old crap on sxoc

edit just re read brand new is very good

Fancy sourcing me an uber cheap T28? :p

Currently doing the exact same thing myself I have got my old t28 somewhere but the oil seals have gone on the bestard, ive got a gt3071r on my sx now lol!

right the one i have is non genuine garrett, pattern replacement part but has gt28 laser etched onto the compressor housing. ebay, theres loads of em. type in t25 turbo or t28 turbo and theyre there.,
having looked at turbos for about 4 years now. these are better quality than most of the genuine ones i have had!!

Hmm debatable I know the last Chinese turbo I had I sent to Owen developments who sent it back saying it's awful and get my money back! As the wastegate flap in the exhaust side didn't seal properly for a start loads of bits were loose and it was made from very cheap metal that wouldn't stand up to the temps that turbos reach!
But that my experience from what I've from what ive seen every one is different which is odd in a mass produced factory operation

Let me know if you find it and are willing to sell. Rough price though?

If I was to sell it and not rebuild and use for my k10 I'd probably want 50 quid posted but currently I haven't got a clue where it is mum could have even rag and boned it!
