Help with ideas for next car please

Hi,

I’m looking for help in getting a car for a road rally that I plan to do in December.

If you look at my blog I did it last year in my micra, but I can’t do it this year in my micra because its spec has changed and its too much to put it back.

Ok basic rules are;
You can not have 4wd, so rwd or fwd only.
Has to be no bigger than 4 cylinders but can be twin cam if that’s how it was produced.

So my short list of cars to look at are below but can anyone think of a car that I should go for that I am missing, I don’t what to spend a lot because this road rally breaks cars, so no Honda Type R suggestion please keep it below £500 say, ok so I am thinking;

best car on there would either be a suny or almera gti but you would be hard pressed for less than £500

Celica, what do you mean about the Micra too much to put back? Classic Mini?

what I mean is my rally micra that I did this event in last year (see my blog) is set up with bike carbs and stripped so I cant use it on this event because the spec has to be fairly standard.


superls, yes the Bmws are RWD you can have RWD or FWD but not 4wd.


Thanks for the links the almera gti on pistionheads Ill contact the guy, the corolla link in £1500 a bit out of my budget, £500 or below please!!

If you look at my blog you will see the photos from this road rally and how the car finished up.

I did bid on an Alfa 75, rwd 150bhp and LSD yesterday but got out bid, and I do have the option of using my Porsche 924 2.0 but I think I may of sold that as they guy is coming at the weekend for it.

So please keep the ideas coming!

Ah I fully understand now, that link you've got for the Celica is exactly what I had in mind in Post #5 but in more these colours -

yes that would be very cool, this is my micra last year doing the event, but as I said I cant use it this year and I want something with a bit more grunt!!!

Can't beat a filthy car, it's either clean or filthy, grubby just looks untidy, lol. But Definately a Celica I reckon especially if it's selling for £350.

yes please let me know, ideally if its MOT and tax'd but hey thats wishing, I have seem a HONDA PRELUDE 2.2 I-VTEC for £350 too!!!

cool, yes has to be non turbo, I've also popped a bid on a 2.0 Xsara VTS on fleebay, but looking for anything that would compete against the list above please.

Mk2 escort is what you need maybe add a couple of 0's to your budget though lol

The rover 200 seem to be popular on RR's, as are the proton satria and the usual pug 205.
