Help needed!?

hey all, im having a problem running my car. i can start it, but only momentarily until it just dies. it first started when i was reversing out the driveway and the car just stopped on me, and no i didnt stall it . my dad had a look, he thinks its the fuel pump. NRMA had a look and they said it could be the fuel pump or fuel pump relay. im not very mechanical but this is my first car and am willing to learn all there is to know about this car, in a very frustrated manner i might add lol. so any comments, advice?

The fuel pump normally clicks for a second or so when you first switch on, you can normally hear it outside the car if it's working.

Is the engine fault light flashing on the instrument cluster when your ignition is on? If it is your key has probably lost it's NATS code (if your car has NATS of course).

No Aussie cars have NATS fitted.
I'd also be inclined to think it is the fuel pump. First place to look anyway.

if you leave they key one turn away from starting you'll hear the fuel pump priming and the relay in the dash tick off after about 10-15 seconds.

which one of these don't you hear?
