Heater Woes

Hi

Have a 1994 Micra 1.0 CVT.

The heater blower fan failed 3 months ago so after reading the advice on here I repaired the resistor card and oiled the fan bearing. It has started playing up again with the resistor card getting very hot (should it get too hot to touch?) and blowing the 15 Amp fuse when the fan is on full speed.

I suspect this may be due to the fan demanding too much power - am I right and should I replace the blower fan or can it be repaired? Otherwise any ideas welcomed.

Thanks.

yep...maybe the bearings are gone in the fan??? take the fan out have a look and regrease, or maybe get another from the wreakers first just in case its cactus... shouldn't be too much?

With the heater fan stalled I did not blow fuses.
Have you cleaned all the carbon dust out from around the brushes?
I described taking the heater motor apart in a thread last year.

Thanks everyone. Have replaced the fan with one from a breakers (£16) and so far it's working ok. I did try and clean up the old one and oil the bearings but it kept blowing fuses.
