Heater Controls

Hi all,

i just registered in aid of help for my grandad.

He's just been on the phone to me, and seem like his heaters are ######ed.

In 1 and 2, nothing happens, but when on 3/4 then the hot air seems fine.

Is this a common problem and easy to diagnose?

is it a k11? if so there is a resistor card bolted into the blower motor. this acts as a fuse and can blow if overheated. mine went and i only had full power (4) or off (0). they can be repaired by taking the card out, tracing the break in the line, scratching back the plastic and soldering up the fault. however when i tried this it would only work for ten minutes before blowing out again. i think there may be too much current flowing. anyway to test if the card is broke, unbolt it then unplug it. there are 4pins on the card. the one on the right is earth. test continuity to all the other pins. a break in continuity indicates a faulty circuit. easiest thing then is pop to local scrap yard and test for a good one.

ps the card and motor are situated under your glove box if its a k11 micra.
