Fuel Gauge Reading?!?!

Hi all...

I have a little query.. when the ignition is OFF and all the dial drop to the bottom. my fuel gauge goes below the E mark quite a way. now is THIS actually empty? or is the E mark empty. just thought that at the E mark there must be at least a few litres left to lift the float to move the gauge that much to the E mark. If you get what i mean??

ye mine does that but as i found out last week when it hits the bottom of the E bar it stopps

Yeah i found out the hard way too, don't go past the bottom of the 'E' if possible don't go anywhere near it.
