Hi all,

It's been a while since I last posted here. I have for sale the CG13DE ported and hi-flowed head that I purchased off mighty who inturn had purchased it from cisco. There was a really good description of the head and photo's posted when it was for sale by mighty a while ago and is in the exact same condition as it was then, this head is still yet to be fitted to a micra since being hi-flowed. Mighty and cisco if either of you don't mind posting the description and or photos from the original post that would be much appreciated as that post has been wiped I think. The price of the head is $500 that is the price paid by mighty and the price I paid mighty, this includes postage, inside Australia. In case anyone is wondering my reason for sale is that I will no longer be going ahead with my N/A upgrades for my micra as I have purchased a 91 mr2gt turbo which will be seeing all of my modifications budget into the future. I haven't totally left the dark side I still have my micra and intend to keep it but 170rwkw of rear engine power was too much for me to resist. I am in melb and can arrange to meet up if some of you guys are down for the meet or are local.

Cheers ~~SME~~

Don't make stupid offers Tom..

This thing is worth alot more than $500

Its frikking steal at $500

Sorry mate, but I couldn't find the photo's either. Perhaps Cisco has them lying around on his computer somewhere

Good luck with the sale (the other day I was cursing that I'd sold this but can't afford it now)

The photos aren't very good, but they are on the site.

Since then, I cleaned up the head a lot before I sold it to mighty. There's a lot of dirt on it in this photo from being on the car.

It came off the blue monster when it had approx 130,000km on the clock, absolutely nothing wrong with it and working perfectly. The performance shop said the engine looked almost brand new inside when he saw all the parts.

And remember, the head was ported and cleaned up perfectly when the turbo conversion was done, so that means that the head has much less than 100,000km on it. The first owner had this car for a long long time before it was turbocharger.

Here they are:

<img src="/images/blue-monster/stripdown/head2.jpg" />

<img src="/images/blue-monster/stripdown/head3.jpg" />

I wish I could tell you Makes, because it was already on there when I got the car. So I don't have a before and after type comparison unfortunately.

However well flowed heads are a very valuable mod if you're planning other engine mods, i.e. other NA mods or a turbo conversion, then it really pays off.

Yeh I have to say that I agree with mighty whole heartedly regarding the price. I bought the head for that price because I thought it was good value and will not part with it for any less than $500 particularly sinceI am not in a hurry to sell it, just selling it because I no longer want to modify my micra now that I have my mr2, p.s. if anyone in micra gets waved at by a red mr2 that's me! I still love driving my micra and will probably never part with it just doesn't seem worth it for the prices they are fetching at sale. Anyways before I got off topic, yeah $500 non-negotiable.

Hi all,

Just giving this thread a bit of a BUMP! This item is still for sale at $500. By the way I saw a green micra with wheels and a big exhaust when I went to the gym in pascoe vale today, whoever that owner is NICE ride is it alpine micra perhaps not sure. Anyhow if you see me don't be shy to say hello i'm in either the light green micra with five spoke rims and 2inch exhaust tip or red mr2.

Cheers

Anybody thinking of purchasing the twin cam head it is a very good price, I had the head on my Mazda Familia 4wd turbo ported and polished and from memory it was around $700-900 to get done.

JHH Engeneering in Brisbane did the work and where very good to deal with.

A ported and hi-flowed head is baiscally a head which has had the cylinder heads ported, i.e. the pathways where the air runs are bigger than stock, resulting in them being able to hold a greater volume of air if you imagine how much water you could fit in a certain diameter pipe then you increase the radius of the inside of the pipe you can hold more water. The volume is only one consideration however. The other thing that head porting aims to rectify is air velocity through the head. The amount of air available is determined also by how quickly it is able to pass through the pathway it travels to the cylinder, to achieve this your aim must be to make the airflow through the cylinder head as smooth as possible, that is to say air turbulence is a bad thing. Turbulance in the airflow can be caused in the sand casting process when the head is made. When it is cast at the factory the port might have surface defects and roughness which cause turbulent airflow, making from a slower air velocity. Head porting aims to elemiante this factor. Additionally and I know this is dragging on a bit now but I also believe in some porting the actual shape of the path travelled is actually changed to allow for the most streamlined and direct flow of air into the cylinder allowing for a better airflow once again.

The additional airflow is beneficial because the more air you provide the engine with the more fuel you add to the mixture the greater the combustion, the greater the combustion the faster you go in your micra, the faster your micra goes the more commodores you can tick off!

Head working is beneficial to both n/a and forced induction cars however I believe the benefits may be more pronounced in a n/a setup because with forced induction you are increasing air speed by forcing air flow with a turbo or supercharger, but i'm not 100% sure if this is true.

From my research this is the best answer I can give you, I don't know if I have all the concepts 100% percent correct and anyone feel free to correct me if i've got something wrong, i'm not a professional just an enthusiast.

Cheers

Okay thanks. That's what i "thought" it was, but wasn't to sure so was just checking.

I might be interested if you still have it in a few weeks if it is still for sale.

Do you have any idea what postage would cost? (A rough idea?) to Newcasltle in NSW?

Thanks, Cameron.

Yes I am willing and able to post it to you. I don't think that it is much as mighty posted it to me with postage inclusive in the price so I will do the same for you. I have stated previously that I am in no hurry to sell this item thats one of the reasons I wasn't negotiating the price so a couple of weeks will be fine.

so it still uses the stock vales, springs and stuff. and just to be clear does it also come with the inlet manafold and plenum, if not it makes it head to justify because u will need to match port same goes for exhaust manifold(extractors or turbo manifold, but not as imporant as inlet)

and i guess im always worryed about the reason for sale your is very clear but not sure about others

POL,

They do it in the interest of emissions regulations, fuel consumption and drivability on the street. The engines are made extrememle conservative.

Now please keep it on topic

unless someone can give a picture of a stock cg13de head, i dont think many people will be able to tell you from just looking at it.

Mabye send a pic of it to Errol at datrats? He seems to be a walking Google.com of the CG series engines. :p

Yes it uses stock valves, springs and retainers. The only modifications to this head have been in the intake and exhaust ports... And the porting is very good

I have one more question...

If you had this head put on, Would you need to change A/F or something?

Or do you run it stock?

Thanks, Cameron.

Btw - At $330... lol.

$170 to go! *fingers crossed it hasn't been sold*

Hi all

Just posting an update. Daily_ricer has just contacted me via email today to let me know that he is backing out of the purchase for the head. So this means that the head is still on the market and available, (Urban). BUMP
