All tensioners & guides has some wear but the top chain tensioner had worn right through the plastic? wear material & part way through the metal support.

I believe if only the top tensioner was replaced, that would have fixed the noise. The tensioner can be accessed by removing the steel plate at the end of the head. No need to take all the belts off, crank pulley & all those bolts in the lower cast aluminium cover.

We changed all chains & tensioners without removing the engine. Its really tight, not an easy job. Remember, need to loosen the cam shaft sproket bolts & the intermediate sprocket bolt prior to removing chain guides. Otherwise camshafts need removing to get the top chain out. Yes there is a hex on the cam shafts but the bolts were tight.
