What better way to spend a perfect summer day than skinning your knuckles stuck under the ST!!

also dudes, when i went to get a wheel alignment no one would help me they said they didn't have the right software to do my car cause its an import......

i've got bigger and wider wheels on my car anyway so i didn't think they'd need the stock factory settings anyway... whats the go??

we used to put a tad of toe-out on any front wheel drive cars that we had no data for (unless your running any negative camber) :)

nah just need a no-shudder tyre happy alignment, don't need it to go round race tracks as its my daily driver

speaking of which, the tires have so much grip i cannot get them to lock up in the dry!!

lots of grip, big brakes and a light car

That sounds like someone who is either very unhelpful or doesn't have a clue. Never had any probs with wheel alignments on my car. Did you go to a wheel specialist or just the local garage?

first wheel shop closed early, they've done it in the past, next wheel shop the boss and worker had a domestic in front of me, second wheel shop ignored me for about 10 mins, third wheel shop 'didn't have the software, go to pedders'

Ahh fair enough...I guess no one wants to work this time of year. Damn season getting in the way of our projects!!

You serious?!!!!

I'd be very worried if that was my car! FYI I measured the deceleration G on my ST at a peak of around -1.05G, but I have no problem at all locking up if I had to.

Oh also, I saw a video of a march going over a small bump breaking really hard and it did an endo hahaha.

Ed, yeah thats pretty much where its at.. :|

dunno if its a good thing or not but it will throw you through the windscreen before it'll lock all the wheels up, have bled the system more than once to get any air out, the pedal feels good and it pulls up quicker than any other car i've owned... should it be locking them straight away?

how much did you pay for the new track rods marty?? and the riped steering boot? cause im going to have to change them on mine, changed the wishbones last week feels so much better

hey wazza!

cost me about $50au to have em shipped over from the UK, i think they only cost about 5 pounds each or so off ebay - you lucky ######s!

the boot is a universal one so fits almost anything, cost $10au each

where did you buy the wishbones from and can ya give us an idea what ya have to do to install em? thats gonna be on the list for me too i think

Great advice, i always run a little toe out. The Mazda loves it even with the negative camber, although a tad twitchy at times.
about 20minstoe out should be good.

Your brakes probably ok your just tyres are gripping really well, maybe different suspension or tyre setup. Best way to tell is get a test station to do a brake test on it.

the brake test they do here just uses that G measuring device and the foot pad on the brake, is that the one you mean? i'd be more interested to find out what each wheel is doing but i guess thats pretty complicated to test

got a wheel alignment done this morning, he said the right side was pretty out.

funny thing is, it feels a little more twitchy now than it did before the alignment, and also torque steers more under acceleration

got my track rods for about 23 euro so about 45 dollars for you probaly the same person haha i got the wishbones off ebay.co.uk including postage cost got them for 40 euro each and i had to get the holes drilled for the anti role bar but that was easy, its a simple job man honestly, just one word of advice strip as much round it as possible makes it so much easier, how hard was it to do the track rods? and ill get pics up of my car soon just fully resprayed it and all my fmic hoses are all red now along with all the vacum hoses aswel

track rods are pretty easy actually.. you'll definately need a balljoint puller of some description as they'll be set in pretty tight

then just count the number of turns it takes to get the old ones off and put the new ones on the same number, its not going to be exactly right but it'll be close enough to get you down to the tyre place for a wheel alignment

also a good time to check ya steering boots closely cause the rods have to be off to change them

Well the brake tests they do here in the UK do measure each wheel seperately, we stopped using the G measuring device years ago.

Setting the wheels to toe out slightly would give you a slightly twitchy feel but more responsive steering, set it to toe in would reduce both of these.
Its something worth experimenting.

its getting there eventually and im going to get a bit of the pipe changed to braided so the leak will be fixed and it will look a hell of a lot nicer aswel!!:grinning:

BTW, note (probably for me only). K10 ST tie rod end does not match any other nissan part # exactly. others may suit but will be a different part.
