Engine options?

I know the K11 is used in rallying often esp with newer drivers. Looking at maybe K11 for track use, but what are my engine options?

Looking for something wich has the minimal amount of fuss to go in. Are there any 1.6 16v options i could chuck in? Or even 8v?

I dont want to go the route of custom made mounts etc (Unless there for sale already done from specialist companies)

You might aswell stop thinking about an engine swap then mate, everythign is custom when it comes to changing engines, unless ur going from a 1ltr to a 1.3ltr.

you can get pretty much anything to fit with enough work but as SR said you will always need custom parts.

if you want a mad car then go for a 1.3 super charged firebird motorbike engine in the back and make it four wheel drive...

that's what i'd do if i had the time, space and money lol

but you never know someone might be selling a pre modded 1.6 or 2.0 i think Rik had a 1.6 micra for sale a while ago...

I think it is.. in fact i hope it is because i want one of those engines for myself lol

but from what i've seen they are the same engine mounts. but probably different wiring...

Rik might still have the chasis for his k11, was modded with 1.6 16v engine, so all you need may be an engine and seats etc iirc.

:)

yeah im wanting one too, if you have a go at it then let me know how it goes! :)

well if i find an engine and it fits then i'll make a "how-to" guide ;)

but looking at my wallet, it's not going to be any time soon lol

is the newer 1.4 (CGA3DE) engine a straight swap for the CG10DE aswell?

Nope - mounts are diffrent, and the Gearbox would be a ##### to fit.

Wiring would be a bugger to as the Cg14 uses coilpacks. :(

damn!! ah well i'm gonna find out if a straight cyilinder head transplant can be done... if not then rebore to a 2.0!! lol

theres no chance you can bore a CG13 to 2.0 but im going to be looking at producing a 1.6 stroker kit :) sometime soon. im going to mess with a CG13 engine :)

if you using it for rallying theres some links to the F1000 class on www.micraholics.co.uk

you can buy ready made ready to compete turn key micras off ebay for the event and would be ideal for a first timer....

also remember that you need an MSA clubman license.. aswell as helmet, suits gloves ect ect ect....

hows that done then? Shortening the conn rods?

theres various ways to do it overbore the cylinders and fit bigger pistons.. but we have wet lined engines so would make our cylinder walls abit thin if this option was chosen to do it.. a minor increase is okay but not enough to add 300CC , the other way is to change the crank throw.. as in how far it moves up and down.. reducing the size of the rod on a standard crank will only serve to lower compresion..

its hard to explain without a picture lol

My CG10DE has coilpacks too, so this would be easier then changing to a CG13DE i would imagine....

Bleh, Nissans seem to much trouble :)

Only worked on cars like Citroen AX, 106, Saxo. All interchangeable engines, Golf MKIIs. Same with Corsa. Why cant the Japanese keep it simple like Europe? Hehe thanks for the help all!

you know to install a ga16 into a k11. which engine mounts needs to be fabricated in order for it to sit correctly?

any other complications?

I know of 2 people in Ireland rallying Micra's where they have bolted the head from a CG13 engine onto the block of the CGA3 ( 1348cc ) without any problems or modifications. There's no way the block can be bored out to get anywhere near a 1600cc the cylinder walls are just too thin.

If I remember rightly, the CG13DE is a already a stroked version of the CG10DE so I dunno how well that'd work.

the stroke is 17.5mm longer and increases the cappacity 277cc IIRC so for a 1.6 you would need to increase stroke from 80.5 to 100mm which is hard if not impossile so you need to so both bore the cylinders and increase the stroke..

to get it to 1597cc you would need to use 76mm pistons 5mm oversized, and an 88mm stoke up 8mm which would need some sleeves and a new crank.. :)

how much are you looking at for this. i just want a rough price as i've got the 1.3 out and gonna be stripping it down soon.

i havent got round to getting hold of a 1.3 to mess with yet :) it was really only to mess with.. fitting a 1.6 needs all the engine mounts changing and wiring changing, if you can have a simple crank and piston change id rather do that myself, plus the micra engine is all ally and weighs less :)

The cg10de with coilpacks and the BOSCH MOTRONIC for ECU has the same wiring exactly with the cga3de...Thursday i put it on my car....the ECU is working simple good because this motors has a air flow meter.....offcourse there is a need for a change to the original program but it is not critical...
