Driveshaft/CV replacement approx quote

Hi,

Does anyone have a very approx idea of how much a driveshaft/cv axle replacement might cost me?
Just so I know if it's worth going to a garage or make a DIY attempt.

It's the front-left one, it's been making ugly grinding noises when turning for a while now, I reckon it'd be cheaper to replace it now rather then when it breaks completely.

Well, I've just been told that this grinding noise when I turn could also be caused by the wheel bearing as well, so I guess this will need a bit more investigation.

wheel bearing is easy to check, look on ebay at j&r driveshafts think there about £30-£40 and easy to fit ya self.
