Dead car

Hey guys, I'm wondering if anyone can shed some light on my problem.

Yesterday I got caught in flood water and my car sucked up loads of water. Basically I tried cranking it but it wouldn't go. Took out the plugs so I could crank it and release the water but it still wouldn't turn over. When you turn the key you hear a click but it doesn't crank and the instrument panel lights go dim. Any ideas?

One suggestion I've had so far that the starter motor and solenoid might have blown when I went to crank it due to the wetness. Does this sound feasible?

Sounds likely, Definately sounds electrical to me.

Presume the battery is ok etc? As it could have got very very wet and shorted.

its either the battery or starter solenoide. both are an easy fix..

step1. jump leads from another car with good battery, or buy a new battery/charge old one for a while... then try

step2. if still clicking, look for a small cylindrical object next to the starter motor and wack it with a screwdriver handle, this should unstick the solenoid and let the starter turn :)

good luck mate

Hey guys, I had someone out to look at it today and he said the engine is knackered. We tried hitting the solenoid but it still wouldn't do anything. Looks like I'll have to dig up a new engine from somewhere.
