CVT swapped for RS5F31V in NZ

Mate just brought another K11 from a transmission specialist.
It had been CVT, but that had given up after ~144,000km
The transmission company had said it cost too much to repair the CVT.
They swapped it out for the 31V
RS5F31V was still written on the box from whatever wrecker it came from

A fun little run around with some features to boot..

We never get the cool old stuff like that here in Oz. We have to protect Hold-on and Fraud.

They are rare anywhere, even in Japan now.. Occasionally one shows up on Yahoo auctions.. In Japan, its old crap now - way too old for anyone to care about it. But great for our countries when they get rid of them for cheap..

They're common on GA16DE powered N15 Pulsar & there's plenty of those here, more arriving every day. There are other GA16DE powered models that have them too.
Since about 2001, Nissan & Toyota haven't really made many cars with manual gearboxes, I guess in the years running up to then sales dropped off.
So yes, any manual gearbox car is becoming increasingly rarer.

We get GA16DE powered pulsars here as well... wonder if they use the 31V

EDIT: apparently the CA18DET pulsars here used the RS5F31V... fact or fiction?

GA16 pulsars in aus all have rs5f31a. E15ET Exa also had rs5f31a (may have been optional VLSD). CA18DE is the only engine that came in Exa and no idea what it gets. They're pretty similar gearbox to what came in the GM 18LE (1.8L N13) though which is pretty much an rs5f31a based gearset. N13 also had VLSD on some models. Bellhousing is different though. Whether or not the casing can be split and the bell housings swapped over I dunno.

Not willing to spend the time or money stuffing around with it to be honest. :(

I was just looking at that auction page, had it bookmarked. I bought my exhaust system off the same guy.
a month ago converted my cg13 cvt to 41A, having trouble finding parts for the 31A in my garage. very fun to drive anyway no sure how long it will last but going to enjoy it while I can!
Apexi intake, Z10 Zigen sus, ga15 throttle/injectors and currently fitting that exhaust.. headaches!!

I think pretty much all CA16DE powered N13's had the RS5F31V. They had, I think, a 4.4 ratio diff. Yes the box splits off the bell housing & you could swap for GA/CG.
The N15 has a taller diff, giving about 3000rpm in 5th at 100km/hr.

Which Pulsar had the CA18DET ?
U12 Bluebird, S13 Silvia/180SX/200SX had CA18DET, I don't recall a Pulsar ever getting one?

Thanks mate. I don't think AU got CA16DE's in the N13 lineup?

Sorry I think it should've been CA18DE.

I was starting to think this was a thread about GTRHOLIC's micra LOL

Most of the cars we have in NZ are Jap spec.
I think AU CA18DE N13 had viscous as an option or one of the spec levels had it. They'll be long past there best. Perhaps you might find something easier here?

I can't find an auction for a 31V but compare the prices for these:

Au N13 never had CA engine. All were GM sourced family II engines, 16lf and 18le. Some 18LE models had VLSD boxes. But yeh they're probably getting a bit tired nowdays.
