car starts and idles ok but no power

hi there - this is my first post!

my wife has had a k11 for about 5 years and has run without any problems. this week the car drove perfectly but the next day the car is undriveable.

it starts up and idles as normal. when i try to rev the car nothing happens and then it might cough/splutter for a bit. strong smell of fuel.

also have noticed that there is a stain at the top of the engine (where the plugs are). there are no pools of oil or anything and cant see where it is coming from....

anyone know what might be the problem? i will disconnect the maf tmrw to see if this helps...

Could be something as simple as the fuel filter, had the same symptoms on a honda i had a few years back, changed the filter and it was fine. Also i dont know if the micra has a vent in the fuel cap or not but a partially blocked fuel tank vent can also produce these symptoms, also check all fuel lines. (Y)
