car history checks

can anyone do any car history checks...... hpi checks are whichever they are called, for like if the car has been wrote off or has any skeletons hiding in the boot etc.......

if anyone can

my brothers girlfriend is buying it from a dealer who has somewhat of a repuation of been good but sometimes bad too.

I you are in the AA, they can do a check on the car. I think it costs around £20
