Burning plastic smell

Just a quickie we think the smell is coming from using the rear window demister but has anyone else experienced a plastic burning smell or have any ideas about what else it could be. We are not going to use the rear window demister for a while just to be sure.

If the car has been sat around for a while, it might just be dust burning. Making sure the parcel shelf isn't touching the element wire.

Hello again, it may have been a burning hair smell actually:doh: all i know is that it was a familliar smell and not very pleasent o_O Hopefully if we give it aa clean it may not happen again, once we have got round to this i will update and let you know :grinning: Thank you so much for your help :grinning:

Check the fuse boxes under the bonnet.

It's common for the box to corrode underneath, this can cause the contacts to short, so if the plastic box is burning, this may be the cause of your smell.

Check it out.
