Does the squeel happen when you first set off or all the time? Some squeel when you first brake could just be crap coming off the discs. If its all the time then the pads are more than likely gone.
Front brake pads are fairly easy to change.
1) Loosen wheel nuts slightly
2) Juck up car
3) Remove wheel
4) Undo the 2x 12mm bolts holding the caliper to the mounting bracket, rest this somewhere so the brake line is not strained at all.
5) Leaver out the pads and replace them, you might have to remove the bracket they are in (19 or 17mm spanner). This could also make it easier to change them.
6) Reassemble and torque up bolts.
7) Put wheel back on and tighten bolts correctly when its back on the floor.
8) Drive carefully :-D
