Hi all

I am in County Wexford Ireland. Can anyone recommend a top notch bodywork repair specialist in this area?

I was the victim of a cowboy last year and this time I want my rust repair done properly once and for all. It needs the drivers sill replacing and part of the inner sill I would guess, cut the rot out good and proper.

Cheers

Again!! What happened, did the rust come back through? Hope you can find someone to do a decent job for a decent price. You might be better off asking this question on the MSC forums..
having done rust repairs for a few years I suggest googling for shops local to you that advertise a rust repair service and then chase up some reviews of work they've done to find a reputable place to get your car done. As I'm sure you have figured out even travelling further and paying more is worth it for a quality repair.
good luck to you...

The cowboy who did the last time was supposed to have cut all the rust out, treated it and then plated it over. Instead all he did was plate over rust.

I have been asking around to get some feedback on any local ish body repair shops but so far nothing that makes me want to use them. I will keep looking and if I find one report back. Cheers

I used to work for a shop that does restorations rather than accident repairs tho our expertise meant we did get jobs on more modern cars for rust.i have seen too many cars with patches over rust or patches on patches on patches... I did one old car that had 3 layers of rusty steel over the original rusted panel... even seen sill/rocker panels made of rust, expanding foam and filler!!

Quality repairs are time consuming and expensive. So we photographed every stage of the work being done for the customer to see where their money was going.

So maybe look for somewhere that specializes in restorations or custom body work.... cos resto's take so long I'm sure you'll find one keen to get some quick revenue. And shops like that are usually proud of their work and show it off so a website and a look in their shop will tell you if you can trust your car to them.

but doing it properly is not going to be cheap.

"The repairs would be be worth more than the car wouldn't they, maybe get a decent shell/car and use both to build one decent car

The car is ultra low mileage and even at 15yrs far better than anything else I have seen here in Ireland for sale. Yes it will cost a lot to fix her rust but once done properly she should be right for an another three years at least so I think worth it. Besides I do not have the time or will to build a new one on a later galvanized shell, though I can see where your coming from.

I have been looking at accident/restoration repair shops and there is one that looks that part but as yet I have not found anyone who knows anything about them. The only ones i have been told about so far are general garages and not what I want, I think these need the specialist touch.
