hi there i have built the cheapest turbo set up you can find (less then 100 euro's) hahaha. i have to admit i allready had the turbo. the turbo is from a VW golf 3 1.9 tdi

i used an S13 intercooler and nissan primera 1.6 injectors and the cheapest fpr out the.

the engine is stock as it can be and allreay running for 6 months ons 0,6 bar boost.

the only problem i have is when the turbo is making boost the car stutters some times, would it be a sollution to mount an S13 fuel pump?

other problem is that i am burning clutches... allready 3rd clutch in 6 months but this time mounted a stage one clutch, this one can barely hold it but it is good enough.

when my engine is to wasted i was planning to do the same but using a 1.3 engine with a nissan patrol turbo, good idea or not.....

"Ik denk eerder dat je uitlaatsysteem teveel restrictie heeft.

I'm guesing your exhaust has got to much restriction

nope sidepipe achter het voorwiel :D

mounted a sidepipe behind the right front wheel and no did not use plastic intercoolerpiping using alluminium

i am an engineer myself so the expensive parts were an chinese hks blow off valve qsv4 thingy or something like that and the boostmeter

used the stock exhaust header, ripped off the exhaust and the 2 catalytic converters, lasered 2 flanges, 1 for the header and 1 of the turbo flange, after that i cutted some steel pieces 4mm thick and welded an adapter for using stock header, do not like to weld cast iron.

when this engine is destroyed i get myself a 1.3 engine trow it inside the enginebay and build a new turbomanifold because i have 3 nissan patrol turbos like to see how that runs.

will send pictures later on

ok an engine, 3 clutches a head gasket away and still driving haha.

the set up is now:
- stock engine
- ferryday engineering decompression plate compression ratio 8,5:1
- stage one clutch
- HKS qsv4 Blow off valve
- the same VW 1.9 tdi turbo 0,7 bar
- cheap FPR (but this time with glycerin filled gauge)
- primera 1.6 injectors

last week blew a head gasket on the second engine, caused by a bad surfaced head (done by previous owner?) this time done correctly and built back with decompression plate. the engine building service guy told me i could run on 1 bar if i want to........

today i finished engine and it ran fine exept a little blue smoke and a bit of overpressure out of breatherfilter placed on valvecover, i think bad piston ring..... but that doesn't matter because the car wont be lasting for very long i just want to use the car on a event with a short dragstip and burnout pit :D

i discovered that an engine with lowered compression asks different tuning compared to stock.... but i dont know what should be a good ignition timing(on the moment the ignition is set at 18 degrees BTDC)
and the fuel pressure on vacuum 3.3 bar

what should be a good tuning, concidering igtition timing, fuel pressure and turbopressure?

hmmmmm you mean the timing/rpm range? is there a backyards mechanic way to do this or do i have to remap my ECU, the second i wil not do because the entire car is a 100 euro's budget car just to try some thngs out before i begin my build on my serious car.

in this way i can experiment and learn with engine and turbo setup and when it is going wrong i dont have to cry in a corner about blowing a 5000 euro engine..... the other cars i have is a honda civic 1.4 tuned naturally aspirated reached 130 bhp and 150Nm torque without v-tec, and the "cool"project i have bought is a toyota celica ta23 1977 the plan is to swap a 1jz engine

so when experimenting i can decide what things to do and what to need for a good turbosetup in general....

for a start what should be a good ignition timing when leaving the max boost as it is?
