Bad Head Unit RCA Connections

Brutal Honesty
So I decided to get a small sub to put back in my boot as the small piddly speakers just aren't enough oomph.

It's all plugged in and works but I have a bad RCA output from my head unit. If I put the RCA cable in a certain way, it works fine, but if I push it all the way in, it stops giving any sound out.

I have 4 outputs on my head unit, 1 is good (RR) and 3 are pretty dud. (RL. FL,FR)

I've read I can solve some issues by soldering a wire from the RCA cable plug to the stereo chassis if it's a grounding issue.

Can this be fixed or bodged to work? Or is it time for a new head unit?

I might add that I'm a complete novice when it comes to audio. This is the first amp/sub I've wired that I haven't blown up.

if its worth saving the set i would fine a local shop to repair it so you have all channels open,,,,,i done mine like that. not dear at all

are you using the 1 preout its got ? or speaker wires

Dunno mate, think it had 4 preouts?

I've run a sub from it for a year previously without fault.

I have had problems more recent of quiet audio and whatnot.

Oh well, bought another now :)

the one you link to has one preout (RCA) connection for amp, or some amp connect speaker wires to as input from the set
