i just bought the micra, and not too famnilir with the mechanics.
the fan/alternator belt is slipping when the car just started, and the squeaking goes away after drving for a while. i think it needs to be tightend, can some one tell me how to go about it, i assume there is a belt tensioner?

mine used to do it a bit, i kinda didn't worry about it too much....

but it could be the belt slipping, or the pulley tensioner bearings getting a little old

adjusting it is actually a little difficult, as you need to get a 14mm or 17mm spanner on the nut on the middle of the pulley itself, loosten it off a bit, and then get a 10 or 12mm socket onto the adjusting bolt, i needed a extension with a wobble bit to get to it easily

a haynes manual is the best thing if you don't have a heap of knowledge and want to fix things yourself
